Origins of Elks Run Watershed Logo…

Origins of Elks Run Watershed Logo…

October 17, 2017 Featured, News

If you checked out the Elks Run Homeowner Series of videos, you may have noticed that the opening sequence gives a clue to the origins of the Elks Run Watershed logo, and quite possibly to the naming of Elks Run itself.

Look closely at the map (left) of Harpers Ferry and the highlighted tributaries that form its water supply and you may recognize some distinct shapes. Elks Run and Elk Branch have the look of antlers and the land mass of Harpers Ferry form the elk’s head.

This bit of trivia is meant to remind you that actions can be intentional, like caring for this watershed and the critical water supply for Harpers Ferry and tributary to the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Join us today!
