Route 9 Planting with Herb Peddicord, October 19, 2013
For those who missed it, ERWG had their first community event on Saturday, October 19. Nearly 50 volunteers and partners came to plant 27 trees along the Rt. 9 Bike Path in Bardane. The trees will not only beautify and provide shade along the path, but they will also capture stormwater runoff and improve water quality in the Elks Run watershed. Next time you’re out walking, running, or biking, be sure to keep an eye out for this lovely new stand of trees!
This planting was made possible by Project CommuniTree, Elks Run Watershed Group, WV Division of Forestry, , Cacapon Institute, WV Conservation Agency, Eastern Panhandle Conservation District, The Downstream Project, Lyle C. Tabb and Sons, Inc., Kubic Construction, and all of the community members who came together to plant!
